In 1970, four passionate bonsai growers formed the Cape Bonsai Kai. The club was an immediate success owing to the foresight of these founders who arranged a public show to promote the art of Bonsai. It is this annual show which has led to many new members joining, and many more who were motivated to take up the art.
The club has a reputation as a forerunner for its high classical standards and disciplines. The kai has been fortunate in having senior members who have completed courses held by Japanese bonsai masters, either in Japan or USA. These advanced artists and growers gladly share their knowledge with all members to ensure and guarantee the high standards of the kai.
At the coming annual Cape Bonsai Kai exhibition you can expect to see over 100 of the best bonsai in the country. There will also be a large sales area well stocked with trees, tools and many other bonsai related products (We, Bonsai Tree, will also have a large amount of stock on offer). There will also be daily demonstrations which you can attend.
