Fired clay is superior to plastic; it won't perish in the sun and develops character with time. Clay also offers better thermal insulation, buffering temperature changes. Plastic containers cause rapid temperature shifts, stressing plants.

Note! Growing in unglazed containers such as these, moisture loss is higher compared to glazed pots. If you want to combat this, rather choose Japanese Marukou containers which are fired at higher temperatures and resist mould growth.
