Overview
The American Pitcher plant, or Sarracenia, is a remarkable carnivorous plant native to North America. Renowned for its striking appearance and ease of care, it's the ideal choice for both novice and experienced gardeners alike.
Key Features
- Easy to Grow: Sarracenia thrives in full sun and requires minimal maintenance, making it perfect for outdoor gardening.
- Carnivorous Charm: Watch as this unique plant captures insects, showcasing its fascinating natural hunting abilities.
- Water-Loving: Keep your Trumpet Pitcher in a few centimeters of water at all times to ensure its health and vibrancy.
- Ideal Container Plant: Commonly grown in pots submerged in water, it can also be placed in a tray to maintain moisture for multiple plants.
Care Instructions
Upon receiving your plant, no repotting is necessary immediately. However, we suggest repotting during winter dormancy (around May to July) every 1-2 years or when the growing medium loses its freshness. Use a specific growing medium designed for carnivorous plants for optimal growth.

Beautiful sarracenia, can’t wait to see it grow!
Probably one of my favourite sarracenias ever!
The most beautiful hybrid, absolutely love it. Very excited to see its beautiful new growth after winter dormancy
Absolutely gorgeous plant arrived safely and in excellent condition
It arrived in excellent condition and the packaging was really secure
Thomas is currently shooting out his first pitcher of the season from a very strong rhizome; it is looking very promising, and I cannot wait to see it in its full glory.
The first pitcher is shooting out at a tremendous rate, already almost 60 cm tall and the pitcher has not even open yet! More than happy.
To my surprise the plant started its spring growth by sending up an enormous flower. The first pitcher is following rapidly, cannot wait to see it unfolding.
extremely happy, and in excellent quality

Professional service as always, and a beautiful healthy plant to add to my collection. Thank you Bonsai Tree!
The service was great as always and the plant even greater! Arrived within reasonable time and in great condition.
I originally had no interest in Sarracenias, as I already have Venus Flytraps and didn't want another plant for which I have to make winter dormancy arrangements. However, eventually I thought I'd give it a go, because I'm currently struggling with my original dormancy-free pitcher plant choice (a Nepenthes), which is not giving me much joy. Very happy with my decision - this Sarracenia is stunningly beautiful. I'd even go as far as saying it is elegant enough to project a majestic presence. Even better, it is growing very nicely indeed, and I still have about seven months in which to enjoy it before I need to start worrying about dormancy. Depending on how that first dormancy goes, I may well be acquiring some more next Spring!
Once again extremely efficient service and very quick delivery. It is always a pleasure to purchase from Terry. The pitcher plant was in excellent condition and packaged very well with no issues. I was so impressed that I ordered another 4 different pitcher plants. I would highly recommend purchasing from Terry as the quality of all products is top notch.
Sarracenia have always been intriguing to me. And as much as I've loved the various colours, I've never really been wow'd by them. Until this magnificent specimen was delivered today.
I am in absolute awe of its beauty. The intense dark red colour looks like it was blended with black velvet, giving that dark intense red a velvety glow and look.
This plant is now without doubt, the pride and joy of my collection, and its quite an extensive collection.
If you looking at this add it to your basket now before it sells out.
As always healthy plants arrived carefully wrapped at our door. They were immediately unpacked and are happily doing their best to decrease our insect populations.
Repotted this plant and it's growing nicely, growing big healthy pitchers now.
Happy with my plant.
Once again, the plants arrived perfectly wrapped. Looking great and in record time.
I purchased this plant for my dad as a Father's Day gift (he has been admiring my plants for a while now).
He was thrilled with his plant and I must, as always, commend the packaging it arrives in!
Thank you!
