I am new to grafting fruit trees. I used parafilm grafting tape and it worked wonders. It was easy to work with and prevents the scion from drying out. I had excellent grafting success after using the parafilm for the first time. It is easy to use and to my surprise young buds grew through it without any trouble. It is not expensive - even if you use a 10 cm strip it still costs less than R1.00 per graft.

Nice and thin tape that is very stretchable, allowing for an ideal tight seal around your grafts. Self adhesive without being sticky. Highly recommended!

I most happy with my grafting tape, I used it to graft an avocado tree grown by myself with already fruit bearing avocado tree from a friend. My first try and so far, so good. I will also now start to experiment with other fruit.

Very easy to use when grafting as the tape adheres to itself when stretched which allows you to graft without help from others.
I use this tape not just for grafting but also to secure roots on rocks. As the roots expand as they thicken, the tape stretches, so they do not scar.

When done correctly with the correct treatment and aftercare, your grafting success will increase significantly. You can try cheaper products like just tape or I have seen people using clingfilm on their grafts (yikes!), but I can almost guarantee them every time that they will fail, because they just cannot get that perfect watertight seal which is so important for a graft to take. If the graft dries out ever so slightly the cambiums will not fuse and your graft will fail. Parafilm creates that perfect moisture seal while still being breathable. If you are serious about your grafting and proper aftercare of your grafting you have to get a roll of this. Trust me, it will last you long so it is definitely an investment. Since I got my hands on this parafilm, our grafting success have increased making it to much easier to get that perfect shaped tree in less time than hoping for a bud to start growing in the perfect position.
