Discover the Benefits of Vermiculite

What is Vermiculite? Vermiculite is an exceptional growing medium made of exfoliated hydrated magnesium aluminum silicate. Renowned for its lightweight and highly absorbent properties, Vermiculite can absorb several times its weight in water, making it an invaluable resource for gardeners and bonsai enthusiasts alike.

Key Features:

  • Excellent Nutrient Retention: Unlike alternatives, Vermiculite retains essential nutrients, ensuring your plants have access to the necessary minerals they need for optimum growth.
  • Promotes Drainage: Its coarse texture makes it an ideal component in container plant culture, enhancing drainage and preventing root rot.
  • Enhances Aeration: Vermiculite improves aeration, facilitating healthier root growth and overall plant vigor.
  • Slow Release of Fertilizers: Any applied fertilizers are absorbed and gradually released, catering to the plants’ needs over time.

Versatile Usage:

Vermiculite can be utilized in various ways to support your gardening endeavors:

  • As a Growing Medium: Use it alone or mix it with Peat Moss or Leca from our Bonsai range to create a customized soilless growing media!
  • Seed Germination: Ideal for germinating seeds, Vermiculite helps maintain moisture levels for successful sprouting.
  • Mildew Prevention: Keep your bulbs safe during storage, as Vermiculite has properties that help prevent mildew infections.

Bag Contents: 100% pure Vermiculite, free from any additives.

Embrace the advantages of Vermiculite for healthier plants and flourishing bonsai! Its unique properties make it a must-have for both amateur and professional gardeners.

Highly-rated growing medium praised for moisture retention and versatility. Customers said it's "excellent addition to potting mix" that reduces watering frequency and improves aeration. Used successfully for seedlings, cuttings, orchids, bonsai, and succulents. "Keeps soil moist for longer" and helps seeds germinate rapidly. Good quality at fair price.

Great product. Nicely packaged and my complete order also contained a few samples of other products which I think is just a great client experience. Will definitely use Bonsai Tree going forward.

Vermiculite

It was an excellent addition to my potting mix by reducing watering frequency and allowing root spread. It also helped seeds to germinate more rapidly because it aerated the soil.

Good product

After having read other reviews and Terry's description i decided to give this product a bash. Used it as a drainage layer at the bottom of the pot and so far seems to be doing exactly what i need it to. Thanks

Vermiculite usage

Hi there Terri

I have been using Vermiculite for about a year and a half now as a growing medium for my bonsais. I'm in the process of changing my soil mixtures to more non-organic for pesticides etc. I found Vermiculite a good growing medium yet believe I have yet to understand it's full capabilities.
Thank you for your informative blogs
Kind regards
Skye Wilson

Cuttings

So far so good. Terry recomended a 50/50 Vermiculite and groperl mix. Its a very light mix. Got the hang of it by using a wet mix before putting cuttings in. My fig cutting are still looking good with none of them loosing leaves or dying. Will see what happens next :)
