Seizan Mitsue is a ceramicist from Tokoname, Japan, a region world-renowned for its long tradition of producing exceptional ceramics. Working from the Seizan kiln alongside her husband Kataoka Katsushi (Reiho), Mitsue creates containers for bonsai, ikebana and kusamono that balance beauty, function and form.
Her work is admired for elegant yet organic forms, subtle glaze techniques and dynamic application, raw clay textures and a sensitivity to how a container supports the character of the tree or accent planting. Each piece reflects Tokoname’s heritage while offering a distinctive handmade quality.
