Introducing the Ibaraki Hard Akadama, a premium growing medium specifically designed for bonsai enthusiasts and container gardening lovers. This volcanic mineral, naturally sourced from Japan, provides an unparalleled environment for healthy plant growth.
Akadama is not just any growing medium; it is a natural volcanic material that has been beloved by Japanese gardeners for centuries. Here’s why it’s a must-have:
For optimal results, avoid mixing akadama with organic materials. This 5-8mm particle size is excellent for larger trees or as a drainage layer. Pair it with pumice in a 1:1 ratio for standard growing conditions, or increase the akadama for moisture-loving plants.
Elevate your gardening game with Ibaraki Hard Akadama and witness the exceptional growth of your plants!
Ibaraki Hard Akadama is highly praised for its exceptional durability and versatility. Customers said it's "one of the best akadamas available" with superior water retention, aeration, and drainage. Used successfully for bonsai, succulents, orchids, and shrimp tanks. The hard quality disintegrates slowly, ideal for warm climates. One customer prefers smaller granules.
Great product to use for my succulents
Ibaraki Akadama Hard Quality is one of the best akadamas available.
"Hard Quality" means that this akadama has been selected for its durability. It disintegrates much more slowly than standard akadama, which is especially beneficial in the warm climate of Hoedspruit (Limpopo) where I live.
Well but next time i'll buy the smaller ones !!!!!
Bonsai Tree recommended Hard Akadama as part of my substrate mix and I am glad I followed their advice. This is an excellent product.
Very pleasant. The product was well-packaged and speedily delivered.
Bought this for my orchids, it seems to have pretty good water retention and aeration. Will be using this for my bonsai trees as well.
Thank you as well for the speedy delivery and excellent service :)
I bought the courser akadama soil to use as a substrate in my shrimp tanks to buffer the ph. Works great and looks good without topping it with other substrate.
I use Japanese Akadama in my shrimp tanks as a secondary substrate. This safely lowers the pH of the water. I will be trying a Akadama only tank in the future and will review my 4star rating accordingly..
Very happy with the service I've received. 5 stars for that.
Received timeously and in good condition. As always very pleased with the service!
It works well and my trees seems happy since the last repotting.
I use it with crushed stone as a drainage layer in larger pots. Works very well
Thank you. It's perfect for my succulents. I will be buying additional items from this store in the future.
I have started using this on its own or in conjunction with other inorganic substrate For my orchids- THEY HAVE BEEN LOVING IT, plump pseudobulbs, new root tips and many other minor but noticeable improvements
Fantastic drainage and airation in this medium. Definitely the king of bonsai growing mediums.
Great service, great product and speedy delivery.
Used a combination of Acadama, Hyuga and Peat to repot a Chinese maple and a ficus, both trees are growing super well.
Excellent quality as always. My plants are loving it.
Anybody looking to rescue a plant - Pumice is the answer. For any plants - mixture of Akadama & Pumice, had the best results since I started using that. Recommend these products anyday
I have started using akadama selectively and so far so good. The mix looks good and the akadama helps a bit to see if medium is wet. Will report back when I do my first repot to see how the roots differ from my other mixes
I recently bought some Japanese akadama from bonsaitree.co.za and I am very pleased with the quality and service that the company has provided.
