Ideally suited to shohin trees because of their size and short blade but they are actually designed to remove candles from pines, and specifically the Japanese white pine. However they are equally as effective at removing candles on other pines. The reason why these scissors are easier to use than other larger scissors is once again due to their size which permits you to get them into crowded areas where other scissors might be a little more cumbersome and may damage surrounding foliage.
For smaller trees they are very useful for removing twigs and even thin branches.
Yasuki Steels
| SK Steel | Carbon Steel. Used to make scissors, kitchen knives and other general cutlery |

In the past, craftsmen used coloured paper to distinguish various steels. Back then they used blue, white and yellow colour paper. This is the origin of the naming of steels which is still held till today. It does not refer in any way to the colour of the metal.
