Customers praised this ventilated growing container for "exceptional root development" in bonsai, orchids, and seedlings. The sturdy design allows oxygen to roots while preventing overwatering. Shoppers appreciated that "soil doesn't fall through" after initial watering. Some noted the medium dries quickly, requiring vigilance for those working long hours.

Container, Colander Type, 12.5cm

The “perfect” container for developing young pines (2yr old material) for shohin bonsai. The ventilated sides allow for lots of oxygen to the roots and prevents over watering. Was at first concerned that the growing medium would exit the ventilated sides but found that once you start to water the tree the medium would settle. Pleasantly surprised at the exceptional root development using these containers!

Plastic growing container

I have reported all my orchids in these pots, they all seem very happy. These pots allow air to get to the roots, plus I can see very easily if they need watering which takes the guesswork out of it. Thanks for the good service you always supply and also keeping one up to date with what's happening it's appreciated.

Fibrous Root Development

I'll have to admit, the fast draining medium used with these containers made me a bit nervous,as it dries out quickly, and for anyone who's at work for long hours,I would advise adding some akadama or mulching to the professional growing medium, the medium does spill a little,so cutting out a circle in your drainage mesh for the bottom will solve the problem. After the first water the peat and leca bind a bit so dont panic if you're trying this out for the first time.

Thanks for these comments Ismaeel. Yes the colander method requires that you keep a careful eye on watering. It is also why not all trees can be grown in these containers. Using too water retentive growing media however negates the benefit of the container too so the Professional Growing Medium is still what I would advise, plus lots of fertilizer = explosive growth.

Plastic Growing Container, Colander Type, 12.5cm

These colanders are a good size and larger than any others I’ve found in stores, and will allow good root development for seedlings.

Great product at good price

This is my first attempt at colander planting and I find the size and sturdiness of these containers ideal. I have already repotted some of my deciduous trees into these and I look forward to trying them for my figs in summer. I think I will need to order another batch of these soon.
